Abstract: The character of virtual cathode oscillation (VCO) with e-beam modulated either by external microwave or by self feedback microwave was analyzed and numerically calculated. It was found that by choosing the parameters of the modulating signal correctly, the performance of VCO could be largely improved. The results of theory analysis and numerical calculation agree with those of experiment quite well.
