Transverse parasitic lasing suppression in a petawatt Ti: sapphire laser amplifier

摘要: 介绍了目前世界上在建的第一台掺钛蓝宝石激光系统中大口径晶体内横向寄生振荡的抑制方法。采用一种掺炭的热塑料MeltMount 1.704作为折射率匹配材料,掺入炭粉作为吸收体。理论上它可以将晶体中的寄生振荡阈值从13增加到2100。Abstract: A thermoplastic, the MeltMount 1.704 doped with carbon as an index matching material is used to suppress the transverse parasitic lasing in a 8cm Ti: sapphire laser amplifier disk. It increases the oscillation threshold from 13 to 2100 theoretically. The practical procedure of applying the material to the crystal is described. This will help in the realization of the first petawatt Ti: sapphire laser system in the world.
