Abstract: The physics, chemistry and spectral characteristics of Ti:sapphire crystal are described in details. The introduction to various Ti: sapphire laser and key techniques are in particular given. In addition, a brief overview on the international and domestic history, development and application of Ti: sapphire laser ,especially the state-of-the-art ultrashort pulse laser amplification techniques and systems are presented.
