Numerical simulations of RayleighTaylor instability in cylindrical geometry

  • The fluid equations and numerical algorithm are given to simulate twodimensional RayleighTaylor(RT) instability in cylindrical geometry in this paper. Simulation results agree well with the linear theory of RT instability. However the threshold at which nonlinear effects begin to become apparent in cylindrical geometry is clearly different from that in planar geometry and is related to the position of interface.
